Smile Hi, I'm Kate

Hello all!

My name is Kate; I'm 27, single, lesbian, episcopalian, living in Virginia, not far from Pat Robertson and Regent University.

I read about Soulforce in the Advocate recently (I was out of town when they visited Regent) and thought I'd drop in to see what was up. I find in equal measure that it's hard to find people who are both Christian and gay and okay with that. Some of the Christian groups I've encountered are down right hateful and that means that a lot of the gay community in this area is very angry at Christianity (which is understandable). The church I attend is very friendly and affirming thankfully, but the bishop that just left was outwardly hostile to the gay/lesbian community and that was tough. Look forward to chatting with folks.

Kate.

Hi Kate,

Glad to see you. I am a gay Christian who (finally) can see the advantages of being such a rare creature. (a gift?). You'll find alot of perspectives on this site, and Christianity is not the dominant, but that is fine. Acceptance of who you are is plenty most of the times. Look forward to a new perspective...

But anyhow, welcome to SF i hope u find it as amazing as i do

Default Hi Kate!

I'm kinda finding the opposite - I never thought I would find a community of Christian gays and lesbians who are happy about being both. It's been an overwhelming and wonderful opening of eyes and doors.

Anyway, welcome girl and looking forward to getting to know ya!

Default Hey Kate!

Hey Kate! Welcome! Ive kindof had the same experiences with some christian organizations in my area, I live in the Bible Belt of Tennessee and its deffinately hard to find people who are both Christian and accept us as homosexuals. Hope to hear from you more!

Smile Welcome Kate

I'm a new member of soulforce as well and have had some very nice welcoming messages and support directed toward my own situation. I hope your able to find a a place to call "home" and feel welcomed. There are such Christian Churches out there that exist. If it's important to you, keep looking, I think you'll find one, although I am not from your area and am not familiar with the churces in the community. My prayers are with you.
Kathleen
