Question I’m looking for a good Christian debate forum. Any suggestions?

I’m looking for a good religious forum or two to do some experiments in logic specifically related to the “Christian” arguments used to condemn homosexuals/homosexuality.

If possible, someplace with the user friendly format of this forum or the UMC boards referred to in suzer’s thread. Where you can see a list of all the thread titles as opposed to an article and then option to post, but I'm open to the latter possibility as well.

I’ve been searching for days now, especially religious debate blogs/forums. (Google web, Google blogs, Google news on blogs), and either the format is not user friendly like I described above or like the UMC boards I don’t feel I necessarily belong there, or the threads that are active have 50+ to hundreds of replies to wade through. I’m willing to do that if need be, I just thought maybe someone might have a better referral. {or maybe they just don't have enough people starting new threads }

Someplace where questioning things like the merits of the belief in “Biblical inerrancy” would be appropriate but hopefully within the context of Christianity, not to condemn the belief itself but to extract the admission of it being a belief. Too often I hear, “God’s word says...,” which of course means “I believe this is God’s word and therefore I believe God’s word says...” With this particular example it’s the dishonesty or ignorance in presenting beliefs as fact that I wish to address.

If it can be established that belief is the source for their stance on gays, so be it, end of debate, OR, depending on the intellect, the debate then changes to the justification of potentially harmful behavior based solely on belief.

I realize issues like this are a can of worms anyway they're presented to true believers but that’s exactly what I want to try and undo by asking exactly the right questions and present exactly the right argument to get to the heart of the issue as quickly as possible, with as little bloodshed as possible.

{I also need to sharpen my skills at being civil in doing so.}

Any suggestions?

www.christianforums.com (.com not .org) ... they are heavily moderated. The only "debate forum" is under Ethics & Morality and Liberal Theology.

Question Where to begin?

I feel like such a fool. I tried that site but it was a little slow, at least right now, but then I Googled Christian forums and tons of sites came up. I just assumed they'd all come up under 'religious.'

Now, If anyone can just help with where to start first....

-Thanks Nate, you got me rollin'

For a widespread, near overwhelming breadth of povs: C.A.R.M. Exact same style as here, just tenfold... (stole your fat font intro line though... sorry and thanks. Its flattery)

No, I got to your site the first time Nate, I was just saying that after I went there I decided to try Googling the words 'Christian forums' to see what would come up, and I got tons more results to choose from.

I've been to that site before, I didn't know they had forums though. This should be interesting, I've read some some real doozies in their main section before.

and regarding the intro, it's only fair, I stole it too.

I took a very brief look at CARM... wow

It would serve well as exhibit A to support the Buddha's idea that beliefs, while necessary at some stages on the journey, are ultimately hindrances to full awakening.

Same for beliefnet.com's forums. Very nasty.

shipoffools.com has a great set of forums. The main bulletin boards are for everyone (and there is lively debate on a variety of issues). It does have a private board as well for its glbt community (who are welcomed by the bulk of "the ship". The private board is called "Fair Havens" and you have to have special permission to join. Just send a PM to one of the hosts or admins and they'll tell you how to get into it.

Thumbs up I would like to invite Mel White to talk with me.

I would like to invite Mel White to talk with me. I am curious how anyone could come to the conclusion from reading the Bible, that homosexuality is ok. I am sure all agree if you are looking for thus saith the lord you will find it in the Bible.

Did you even read my original post? There's a plethora of things in that alone that you could address.

The point of my asking for sites is to find information from people like you. Since you're willing to be here, I'm assuming you'd be willing to debate here. Is this the case or not?

I can"t debate here. They erase any post I make, even scriptures from the Bible if they feel it is anti-homosexual

Tony,

are you confused about how these forums work? You quoted emproph and asked him to bring out Mel White. Do you think that the members who arrived here before you are somehow part of a secret association? This isn't the Emerald City we're just forum members like you. We're not hiding the Wizard!

Sweetheart, most of the regular posters on this site would be able to handle your questions with ease. You don't need Mel White, you need a peer.

Yes, I'm sure we'll love a forum to discuss your hilarious t-shirts. Like the one that says "I support the right of gays to marry (people of the opposite sex)"

HI-larious.

Even moreso because of your explanation of it (link deleted), in which you make the tired old silly argument about pedophiles and rapists.
So, how does this become a problem? Well, it's like this… if gays can claim this is their natural God given right, and our government gives in and acknowledges this, does it not follow that pedophilia, rape, incest and other assorted minority sexual behaviors could be justified on the same logic? Do we really want this?
