thank buddy
i really appreciate it. it looks like you are starting life where i stopped. i majored in ministerial studies but was on course for a double major in english but never finished the double major. now i am an english teacher. have been so for 6 years now. my boyfriend, who is lying on the sofa now watching "ants" is a cute young 26 yr old mortgage banker. you can also find me on facebook.com... my name there is don hall, if you are on face book. you can see our pics there and the face behind the words...so to speak. i really appreciate your encouragement. i would like to find a way to get my story to as many as possible. i have much more to write about my life that is even more dramatic, scandalous and maybe even moving. my friend lucien zell http://www.myspace.com/lucienzell is a poet/author/band leader and he wants me to consider developing the story for some form of publication, either in print/theatre or film, in order have a wider audience but i am not sure if its realistic... one thing i would like to do is at least to find a wider audience for it so i can encourage a larger number of folk and even tell more of the story but am not sure how to... tell me about yourself....and life in south dakota cheers don now living in the czech republic |

Great story. How to share it with others? How about writing a book proposal? A memoir.

Hey there, your story was very moving and so much like mine. I am the daughter of a Southern Baptist couple, very staunch, very strict, in church every time the door was open for whatever reason. Being gay was not ever expressly mentioned as being an "abomination". It was kinda like, no one ever said anything about black people, but it was understood, they had their place and we had ours. Such was life in Southeast Texas where I grew up.
I got married at 20, and had two kids in ten years. During that time, I met the woman I am now married to. When I met her, I had these feelings that I had no idea what to do with. 12 years later, and two little girls, I finally came out to God and myself and then her. I divorced my husband of 19 years, and moved in with her. We got married in Canada in 2004. When I came out, my mother said she was heartbroken too. My own brother and sisters have rejected me, not allowing me any contact with their children. I have been preached at, yelled at, and summarily dismissed from any family celebration. My nephew got married last summer and I was not invited. All that to say, you have plenty of people here with similar stories who have come out and faced a lot of opposition. I would say after 5 years, I am stronger, and if my parents reject me, that is their loss and problem. I am not going to beat a dead horse and keep asking for their love. If they really loved me, this would not be an issue. But I refuse to be something THEY want me to be instead of WHO I am. I love my wife and will never leave her. She is the best thing to ever happen to me. Why walk away from that? ![]() Your story is inspiring and I hope that you continue to revel in God's love because he made you like you are and I believe created you as a gay man from the foundation of the world, and Christ's design was to save you just as you are, because in Christ there is no male or female, so why is this a big deal to the church?
