Default Prayer at St. Vincents Cathedral~Bedford Texas

After the Dallas Transgender Activists and Allies invited Bishop Robinson to a conversation we became the focus of hatred by a publication called 'Stand Firm'.

In the begining the articles were were expressed mostly support for the views of the authors.
I made my personal commitment to use what I have learned from the Reconciling Ministries Network and Soulforce to gently introduce our community to the congregation that read 'Standfirm'

I made my second prayer visit to ST. Vincents Cathedral Sunday 21 09. On my first visit I was definitely watched extremly closely and did feel the anger and resentment of the reduced congregants.

This time it was so different. I was warmly welcomed. Much of the Liturgy focused on radical inclusiveness of Christ and although I was not allowed to receive communion from Bishop Iker I did receive the sacraments from another minister.

Afterwards as I looked up and gazed at the the cross, it may have been my imagination, but I felt something very different. I know there was respect. Maybe not acceptance, maybe not yet.

I guess the point I'm trying to make, is that this change will take time.

God bless you for your efforts with respect to the SFIF crowd. Since i'm an Episcopalian, i'm familiar with their website though i stopped checking it out a long time ago. Too much hateful vitriol for my tastes.

The change will happen. Only God knows how long it will take, but as MLK said, "Let us realize the arc of the moral universe is long but it bends toward justice."
