Default Evangelism, Transgenderism and the Bible

As I enter my fifth year of being out, I'm seeing the need to do more study and speaking about the bible and how it relates to transgender people. One of the saddest stories I hear is trangender people rejecting God, the bible, and Christianity because of the way we treated by 'Christians' and the institutional church.

Last month, I spoke with my bible study group about transgender and the bible. There's a chance that I may do it again later this year. I have a large interest in the early Christian church because it is the first time in Scripture where everyone was welcome. I have noticed happening is the love of Christians being put to the test. God is doing a new work in the churches and among his people.

John 3:16 is the most quoted verse. I've always understood it to mean that ANYBODY is welcome in the kingdom of God. I am writing some commentaries about passages in scripture and how it relates to what is happening now. Today, I was praying for people who are hurting. When I thought about how GLBT people are treated I wept . I'm generally not a crier but this always gets to me.

I just going where the Lord leads me. Each year in my journey was different. There was getting comfortable in my new identity. Then there was discrding society's shackles. There was reading and studying about transgender topics as well as issues which affect GLB men and women. Now it's me moving ahead and speaking out about all of this. This journey gets interesting and challenging at the same time. Life doesn't stand still for anyone. There are lives that need to be encouraged, changed, and embraced.

a favorite verse of mine is romans 15:7 "welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you to the glory of God," You can substitute alot of words in for welcome: forgive, accept, love, honor, be merciful ..." you are a good example and witness for us who aren't transgendered and for those who are. God bless your work.
