there are churches rejoicing and churches mourning. there are also many stories of people coming back to the lutheran church now as they are welcome and can feel comfortable with their beliefs and with the openness of many churches now. I was a voting member at the assembly and am proud of what we have done. I can remain a member and a pastor within the elca as can many other lesbian and gay pastors in the church and outside of the church. hopefully we can respect each other and not have the exodus that the episcopal church did!

...have been the rumors of the Episcopal Church's demise. And greatly still will be the stories of any exodus from the ELCA.
Please. Unlike any renegade Episcopal parishes/dioceses, all any ELCA parishes upset with the recent decision need do is sign up with the Missouri Synod Lutherans. What could be simpler? Sure, they might have to sign on to a theology that ossified in the 16th century...but that should work just fine with their whole anti-gay thing, right? I really don't see where they have much reason to squawk.

I'm pleased about the changes. I believe that other denominations will follow. I have some of my own feelings about this because we had a discussion about church at bible study last night. I will post something in the coming days.
