Why is there an age limit for Equality Riders?

As a non-traditional student, I went back to school at age 36 and lived in the dorms on campus at the University of Tampa to get my Bachelors in Performing Arts. The academic part was easy, it was dealing with the disparate levels of emotional maturity that was difficult. From what I hear, the face of education is changing (people are going back to school in their 30's, 40's, 50's, etc) and I am curious as to why the age bracket is a factor at all? Shouldn't it be the substance that one brings to the table? And what about those non-traditional students over 35 yrs who may need to hear a message from someone that they feel that they can relate to? If you had hit my college, I might have attended a rally in curiosity, but would I have felt represented? It makes one ponder.

This is a program run for and by young adults. Most of what Soulforce does is open to everyone. But this program is about empowering our youth to become activists. Kara
