Why is it you never realize how much junk you own until you start packing it. What is it with human nature that we have to cram our little caves with every appliance, pretty thing and doowaddy possible???? God grant me the strength to keep packing and the serenity I NEED to not just rip the living shit out of these bloody boxes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so over packing, why can't some hunky half dressed sweaty house moover guy just come and do it for me

I've just moved for the second time this year... and I agree with you it's not very fun. I tried to bring a minimum of stuff, but still ran out of room quickly. Most disappointing is not having room for my personal altar... Unless I get creative.
I could definitely have used a hot, sweaty moving man. ![]() The challenge for me will be adjusting to living with two (gay) roommates who are in a relationship. I'm not very outgoing, so it's been kind of awkward. The guy who owns the house is kind of a neat freak and at this point I'm scared to touch anything. Hopefully we'll get along just fine.

lol good luck with the new roomies mate, hope all goes well
I used to be a neat freak but it's just way to much work. My place is tidy but it's lived in ![]() I'm looking at my antiques and starting to panic, how to pack? how to move? I think i will just end up nursing a lot of stuff to the new place, much to Craig's disgust. He's the organized one, want's everything packed and ready to go, but If my 1820's tea set gets broken life will no longer be worth living. hhmmmm what to do, what to do

I'm looking to move later this year. Moving is not one of my favorite activities but it's part of the deal.

God I hate moving. Especially when contract movers from some obscure location are packing and moving your stuff for the military. Horror stories I've heard, friends, horror stories. The *First* time, we have only lost two wine glasses, which were wedding gifts, a plate that I could care less about, and a glass candle holder. Not to mention the markings on the dresser that we can't claim, due to the fact that the dresser was manufactured with 'signature' markings, to add that antique look. (The kicker is how they document it... dings, scratches, marks, etc. all over. That means they could have done all but dropped it off the truck and it'd still be covered)
But please be careful. If that tea set were harmed, I could understand how life would end.

Two months ago, my landlady had some contractors come in and do some interior work, and I had to move EVERYTHING into the basement.
I soon began to understand the true meaning of "everything". O.K., it's time to start sorting and throwing, before the next move. Namaste', Bruce Chris

Lol I heard sometimes they get paid off of the weight or amount of boxes they pack... so certain contractors might pack trash and whatnot. But the worst is something I find hard to believe--trying to pack a live animal! What?!
My wife swears it happened to her friend, but I can't imagine people being that retarded for a buck... while the owner is still there supervising. But I have been wrong before! |

I guess it's the child in me, but I've always loved moving! I was 11 the last time we moved though. I only remember moving the last 3 times, well 4 because of my grandparents house that we sold and added all their stuff to ours. This time, I'd have a hard time leaving, because I'm old enough to value the house... the hours of hard work that go into it, the huge divorce battle that went into it, and how hard we all have to work every day to keep it... can't just walk away.
Good luck with the move... stressful, but try to remember, the hard part will be over soon. Then you'll get to enjoy your new home.

I am moving in two weeks and have had the same experience, realizing how much junk I have accumulated. However, I did something to really lighten my load, I had a big sale, it took a week to get ready but I sold all the crap I had been keeping and not using, all the beat up furniture and even stuff I was originally going to throw away. It is so nice to feel free of it and I made almost 500 dollars in the process.
My advice: Yard Sale!

I think I'd be lucky to be able to pay someone $500 to take it off my hands.
