Below is a comparison of words. The first is from Peter Labarera the president of "Americans for Truth About Homosexuality" in an October 13th article of the American Family Association's news website about openly gay Rich Ross becoming studio chief of Walt Disney Productions.

The second is from Hanns Oberlindober, a leader in the Nazi Party in 1930's Germany about the Jewsih influence in the arts:



"The sad reality is that whenever you see a homosexual activist at the top, nine times out of ten they end up pushing that gay agenda using their influence to push it wherever they can."

"It's the way the homosexual movement ends up influencing the country far beyond its tiny numbers. They get in key positions of power, and then they use that power to advance their agenda."

apperently, there is no new spin you can put on propaganda. for example evil(gays, jews, blacks) destroying society blah blah blah, endagering morallity, blah blah, blah. help us erraticate the (jews, blacks, gays) agenda blah, blah, blah.

there, I have pretty much rewritten every hateful piece of anti-minority propaganda. you can put names and dates, but its pretty much all the same.

And we will always hear this from the fringy mcfringersons of this country. as long as none of the fringgers get in a place of power we'll be fine. and fortunately that seem to tire the selves out kinda easily( noticing that are mostly white, old people) I maybe makeing light of a serious issue, but its better than living in fear of every average joe nutjob. They don't need much help staying out of power, their speeches and attitudes do that for them.

I agree. The "nutcases" do seem to be in the minority, at least for now.

But history shows that that could change. For instance, if the United States experiences another terrorist attack more devastating than September 11th, many on the right might be looking for a scapegoat to blame for the "weaknesses" of our nation. That could include LGBT people, illegal immigrants, atheists, and radicals. We will need to be prepared to use rational thinking and problem solving if that situation occurs.

Remember what Jerry Falwell said three days after September 11th?

"I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People for the American Way -- all of them who have tried to secularize America -- I point the finger in their face and say, "You helped this happen."


I'm not saying that if a terrorist attack occurs that a major backlash against us will happen or even that it's likely. I'm saying that history shows that the possibility exists and that maybe we need to at least be thinking about how we as a community will respond.

The infighting that we're seeing today between the more radical LGBT groups and the Human Rights Campaign will have to cease. Pride parades and angry marches will not be the answer.

We will need to appeal to reason and rational thinking of our fellow Americans and to the hearts and minds of our family, friends, and neighbors.

There are many in this country today that would love nothing more than to see all LGBT people disappear. If a worse case scenario happens and the whole country suddenly panics, that number could grow significantly.

To be in denial that such a scenario could never happen could be a grave mistake.

Another bit of "wisdom" from the Peter, eh? I'd like to dismiss him as just another "ex-gay" nutter (which he is, of course), but too many people read his crap and believe it. I find highly interesting that he is supposedly no longer gay, but shows up at all these leather events...like Wayne Besen once said (paraphrased since I don't have the book in hand): "Peter Labarbers has been in more gay venues than RuPaul and Mr. International Leather combined." Methinks Porno Pete doth protest too much.

Unfortunately, if we see more attacks (and we probably will since we don't seem to be able to keep our nose out of everyone else's business), I think things could get more unpleasant for LGBTQ people in this country. People have the nasty tendency to refuse to accept responsibility for something and would rather have their, erm, scapegoat du jour. In the case of the fundamentalists if appears that we are the "lucky" chaps.

I would like to see a much stronger sense of solidarity in the LGBTQ community. Y'know, "united we stand; divided we fall" and all that. The fundamentalists ("literalists" might actually be more accurate) LOVE to see this kind of infighting amongst our community. It means we are expending less energy to fight their nonsense.

I get tired of all this crap between the radical LGBTQ'ers and the HRC. Each has their place in the community and each can help the struggle for rights. As someone said during the American Revolution: "Either we all hang together or we shall hang separately".

Below are parts of the anti-Jewish hate literature of German Nazi Propaganda in the 1930s that demonize Jews as an assault on Christianity and German culture. Six-million Jews were eventually persecuted, tortured and murdered under Nazi rule. One-million Jewish children were among the dead.

My point is that hate kills and that much of the anti-gay rhetoric today is the same ugly hatred that Jews heard against them in the early 20th century.

My point is that history shows that Christianity has been used as a weapon to destroy the lives of millions. Hitler was a Christian as were the millions of Germans who supported him and his hatred of Jews.

If people believe that God is on their side, they can do some very horrible things to people they don't like. Does this mean that all Christians are dangerous people? Of course not. But it does mean that we can't forget history and left unchecked, Christian bigotry in the name of God can be lethal.

Pat Boone is a Christian and even though he didn't use his faith in his hate talk against the Obama Administration this week, he used the same ugly image of exterminating the "vermin" in his message that Nazis used against the Jews in World War II.

As you can see by Hitler's words above, there's no difference between Christian hate talk against Jews in the early 20th century and Christian hate talk against gays today. I think our community needs to be more vigilant in pointing this out to other Americans.

That is the purpose of my post.

I'd image that most here already know this. Maybe we need a reminder. The "Gay Agenda" was fabricated and authored by the religious right. It's an agenda for gays and about gays that has absolutely nothing to do with gays.

You can trace it's history for yourselves either online or in your public library from sources that have no gay ties at all.

You know we could never agree on what color paper to print it on or what font to use. We can't even agree on where to go for dinner. What a load!
