A Federal district judge refuses to toss suit challenging Prop. 8, wants specific answers as to how same sex marriage harms traditional marriage.(Last two paragraphs)
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...#ixzz0U9mubM8A A federal judge challenged the backers of California's voter-enacted ban on same-sex marriage Wednesday to explain how allowing gay couples to wed threatens conventional unions, a demand that prompted their lawyer to acknowledge he did not know. The unusual exchange between U.S. District Chief Judge Vaughn Walker and Charles Cooper, a lawyer for the group that sponsored Prop. 8, came during a hearing on a lawsuit challenging the measure as discriminatory under the U.S. Constitution. Great, its time for fundies to put their money where their mouth is. I am not a betting man, but I would definitely put money on this pony. You can't win an argument on religious bias alone you got to have facts and since the sky hasn't fallen in places like Massachusetts and Conneticut their arguement doesn't hold water, but that doesn't mean they[fundies] won't try. Heres to keeping fingers crossed and jumping on one foot, where did I put that lucky rabbits foot and horseshoe?

Psycho, I could go on about this subject for days. I'm married and transgender. After 29 wonderful years I can attest that same-sex marriage does NOT affect traditional marriage. I have two gay friends who got married in California.
I'm happy that the judge will allow the suit to go on. Many traditonal marriages go down the toilet because the two people involved refuse to put aside their ego and resolve their differences. "Irreconcilable differences" it is called. What annoys me is that same-sex couples are blamed for the alleged demise of traditional mariage. This is a outright lie. My blood boils when I see what is happening. I could go on about this but that's another subject for another day. Gennee

Woo hoo! This ruling is definitely a step forward. About friggin' time someone challenged the fundies to say exactly why gay marriage threatens traditional marriage!
Ya know this argument that same-sex marriage "degrades" the institution of marriage? That really bugs me because it implies that gays are inferior and therefore don't deserve to have equality with straight people. It says marriage is worth less if those "inferior" people get it. Most fundies won't come straight out and say GLBT people are inferior, but I figure that's what it's all about. |

[FONT="Arial Black"]I would love to see their reasonings and explanations of how gay marriage does cause divorce, abortion and is being force taught in school. I will be following this one.....
