Hi, everyone,
I'm Mike. Otherwise known as Michael. Or Mikhail -- people have called me lots of nicknames. I have participated in various Soulforce actions over the years: the first big meeting with Jerry Falwell in Lynchburg, two Catholic bishops' conferences in D.C., the Ex-Gay Survivors meeting in 2007, and the Anti-Heterothingy Conference in 2009. ![]() I co-founded an organization called Men Can Stop Rape in 1997, launched Ex-Gay Watch in 2002, and joined Truth Wins Out as an editor in 2008. By day, my career is in mainstream journalism and online content syndication. I grew up in upstate New York and Pacifica, Calif.; went to college in Ohio; lived for 18 years in D.C.; and have settled in the Providence, R.I., area where I own a small loft. I was raised as a liberal social-justice oriented Catholic, went through a period of atheism and fundamentalism, returned to Catholicism during college, and am inclined to identify these days as nominal Christian, Quaker, or spiritual independent with an affinity for learning, affirming, and appreciating non-Christian perspectives. I pray for peace and serenity despite my own tendency to be a pit-bull at times. Cheers...
