Hi everyone - My name is Jendi Reiter and my husband Adam and I are straight allies. We grew up Jewish but now he's a Buddhist and I'm an Episcopalian, so we know something about the need for religious tolerance. I was raised by my mom and her female partner, who had to stay closeted because of job discrimination. Being part of this "multi-everything family" has fueled my commitment to work towards a society where all families are equal.
I am a writer and editor, author of two poetry collections ("Swallow", Amsterdam Press, 2009; "A Talent for Sadness", Turning Point Books, 2003), and currently working on a novel about a young photographer who struggles to reconcile his faith and his sexuality. I blog about Christianity, GLBT issues, poetry, and the writing life at www.jendireiter.com. Adam and I attended the Anti-Heterosexism Conference last month and were so inspired by the warmth, courage, and faith of the participants. I hope we can all stay in touch and have another event soon. Come visit us in Western Massachusetts! |

Welcome, JB. It's great to hear from someone else from the Diocese of Western Mass. My husband Charley and I are members of All Saints, Worcester.
Thanks for your work as an ally. Soulforce is a great community/family of people who think that everyone has the right to live an open and productive life, free to express one's orientation and/or gender identity or expression.

Welcome to Soulforce, Jendi. I loved your introduction. I am a writer and blogger myself. I will take a look at your website and comment later.
