Exclamation The Good Samaritan

It is interesting to me how the story of the good samaritan has changed so much over the past two thousand years. When Jesus told this parable, Samaritans were hardly venerated. They were the outsiders. They were evil, undeserving, half breeds who had no social standing in Jesus' community. Now people hear that story, and they think, "Oh, that samaritan guy is who we should emulate for being such a great guy." But it wasn't why Jesus told the story. I believe if he were to tell the story of the good samaritan in the American church today, it would be called the good homosexual.

My thinking behind this is that there is not a group in this country who are more reviled, more villified, and more outcast than the homosexual community. Since that is true, and it is also true that homosexuals are perfectly capable and willing to do what that samaritan did in Jesus' parable it seems to be fitting (to me at least) to interpret his parable in that light. Hopefully, it will help change the church's perspective on gay people and exactly who they are, and how they fit in God's world.

Post Good Analogy

A great analogy, K-dog. It can be applied to many situations involving different people groups. I see that the church and the LGBT community are at least talking about this in some cases. I pray that the church's eyes will be opened about the error of their ways.
