Default Cindy McCain comes out for gay marriage

From Yahoo News 1-21-10:

Cindy McCain comes out for gay marriage, poses for anti-Prop 8 ad

Through his career, Sen. John McCain has been a staunch opponent of same sex marriage. He opposed it during his 2008 presidential campaign and was vocal in his support for California's Proposition 8, which banned same sex marriage in the state. His family, however, is increasingly on the other side of this hot-button issue.

McCain's daughter Meghan distanced herself from her father's stance last summer when she posed for an ad for NOH8, a gay rights campaign seeking to defeat Prop 8. Now his wife Cindy is joining in the effort and is also appearing in an ad for NOH8.

Default Read It

I read about this last week. Amazing how the wives of these politicos are for same sex marriage. Cindy McCain is a very intelligent woman who can hold her own.

I never have been a republican, but I have to say, I like Megan McCain and would be tempted to vote for her is she were running for office

Default So What!

Cindy McCain should have come out with her views when it really would have mattered, during the campaign.

Post Silent Partner

From what I understand, McClain preferred his wife to be a silent partner. Sadly, you still have this attitude in many men.

Default Cindy McCain

When Cindy McCain thought that it would benefit her husband she spoke.

Remember when Michelle Obama said something like, "this is the first time in her life that she's proud of her country."

What Michelle Obama said was twisted and Cindy McCain something like, "I don't know about you but I'm proud of my country." Cindy McCain was trying to score political points and put down the Obamas.

I don't like Cindy McCain.

I do remember Michelle's coment and how the media twisted it around. But this is done to African Americans all the time. Our patriotism is always questioned when it comes to national or international questions. I'm going to stop here because I could go on about this all day.

I'd like to hear more of your point of view on this subject Gennee. Maybe you could start a new thread about this.

Me, too! This smacks of white privilege to me. It needs to be reiterated, Gennee, and I think you're the perfect person to do it for us.

The McCain campaign ran into a lot of problems because as the middle started to support Obama, John was forced to rely on the Fundamentalist vote. This is a problem that Republicans run into all the time. They know that there is a huge block willing to vote for them if they're willing to completely sell out. GWB and his administration are starting to talk about how irritating the Christian Right is and how much they controlled everything. But then again, Dick ran the show until the last year or so anyhow.

Rick, BenL, this is nothing new. When Obama was compaigning, everything was questioned about him. They questioned his citizenship, his name, his patriotism, his ethnicity.

Growing up, I felt that I had to do things better than everyone. I and my two siblings attended Catholic school for five years where we were the only black students. My sister attended a Catholic high school where she was the only black student.

I never let my race interfere with what I needed to do because I was just as good as the next person. I just let my work speak for itself. In my mind if you don't follow the company line, then you're considered insubordinate or unreasonable. THis is one the reasons why I am somewhat of a loner. I have always tended to go against convention.

Regarding politics I look at both sides of whatever the issues are. I'm sure to catch flak from both sides because of some of the position I hold on certain issues but they are mine nevertheless.

I'm thankful for my mom who instilled in me that I could do anything. I have accomplished many goals and look forward to doing more.
