Default How Was Everyone's Easter?

Did you spend it with your natal families? How did it go? Page statistics here say there are 182 active members. Stick your heads in and say hi. If you feel like it tell your Guncle Ben he's crazy.

Easter was lovely for our household.

Being an active member of my Episcopal parish, it meant quite a few church services during Holy Week, culminating with the Easter Vigil on Saturday evening and a Festival Eucharist on Easter morning. The music was magnificent and the church was packed.

Charley and I are the local grandpas for a set of two-year-old twins. (Their family grandparents live far away, and they only get to see them once or twice a year.) Sophie and Walter and their family had dinner with us. We got to spoil them with Easter presents -- toys and books. They are rapidly becoming the love of our lives. They walk/run everywhere and jabber incessantly, but it's starting to make sense. Then, at the end of the day, when everyone's exhausted, we get to give them back.

Our own kids are estranged from us, so that always adds a bittersweet dimension to family-centered holidays.

Default Attended Church

I attended church with my spouse. It was an unusually warm day, around seventy degrees. Took a nap after lunch. It was a quiet day.

I was feeling a little down myself about not taking the weekend off and going to visit my father and sister. The "I have to work" excuse may be growing a little thin to me and them.

My buddy Karl came in to church wearing the most ridiculous Easter bonnet I think I've ever seen and I was laughing too hard to be sad. I think that was the point. Our minister Paul loved it also. He had his picture taken with Karl. It will probably be on someone's Facebook page soon if not already.

It looked like an old marching band hat but instead of a plume it had a very tall pinwheel. The whole thing was painted gold.

Easter Sunday was a beautiful day here in North Carolina. I rode my 10-speed bike through the surrounding neighborhoods enjoying the green lawns and spring flowers. It was a great afternoon.

I went to church with my sweetie. We took one of our lambs. Possum the Lamb got her picture made with the kids at the after-church egg hunt.

If you take a sheep named Possum to church to have it's picture made with the kids, you might be a redneck.

I saw one of our lesbians wearing a dress today. It was the first time I'd ever seen her in one. She was still wearing combat boots. Nice ensemble. She's always fabulous.
