Default another little goodbye/Holden

Everyone,

I will be bidding you all farewell shortly. My partner and I are taking a year out of our lives and living in community at Holden Village (www.holdenvillage.org), a Luteran-affiliated retreat center and intentional community high in the Norh Cascade Mountains of Washington State. Holden is a place of renewal and a place apart -- it is surrounded by high alpine peaks is on the border of the Glacier Peak wilderness area, and is off-grid (no internet, phone, TV, etc ... a boat is required to get there ... ) so I won't be posting here much, except when I am out of the village. I don't find it particularly un-likely that some of you know about Holden and may even find yourselves there this year. If so, look me up, or just stand in the middle of the village and yell out my name. Either I, or my partner (who is also named Matt) will probably hear you. For those who don't know Holden, it is a wonderful Christ-centered place of refuge and challenge for all, and that includes GLBT people.

So, goodbye for now (I'll be leaving in a few days) -- it has been a great experience for me to connect with this online community and all of the great people here, and I wish you all the best until I return.

With Love

Matt

Goodbye, The Matt Perry! Alas I hardly knew thee... But I've enjoyed reading your thoughts. I'll miss seeing your picture gazing somewhere off to the left. What/who is he looking at?

Best wishes, warm wishes and many Holden Evening Prayers be yours while you are off hippie living in the mountains.

Dash

Matt,

I will miss your posts and look forward to your re-entry to the world as well as your perspective after being in such a community. This sounds like a life changing adventure.

How wonderful to be in an intentional community with your partner. Wow. That such an inclusive place exists says something in itself. I pray that your time there is all that you intend for it to be and more.

Much love to you both,

Daniel

Default A Prayer for you...

LOL, Dash! I too have wondered that about pictures!

Anyways, Matt I won't promise to pray for you - I'm just gonna do it now (or else I shall not get it done!).

...Father thank you for the opportunity that you are giving Matt and his partner to journey deeper into a relationship with your son, Jesus. I pray that you will find ways to use them and mold them and grow them. Thank you for the open doors that have allowed Matt and Matt to retreat for a year - thank for the provisions!! I pray for a hedge of protection around them as they journey to Holden and while they are there. I pray that the blood of Christ will clense them and give them your peace that surpasses all understanding! Thank you and I ask these things in your beautiful and loving Sons, name! Amen!!

Default Soft, yet strong.....

When I look at your photo when you post here, those are the two adjectives that I think of, and also based on your posts of the past, I think they are both fitting. I will miss your insight and your sensitivity, yet I am so excited for you at this opportunity to have an experience unlike any other, with your partner no less. Have a peaceful, blessed, renewing year, I hope that you will be able to check in, and I wish you prayerful time, reflection, renewal, and many blessings to you and Matt. Peace be with you always, and thank you for your contributions here. Vanessa

I'm a little jealous.

I've been wanting to visit a christian renewal center myself for quite a while....still need to convince the SO that it would be a good idea.

Have a great time.
