Default Bumpersticker at the food lion

So me and my fabu 22 year old son are at the Food Lion and I see this truck with a bumper sticker that says "vote yes for marriage one man one woman". And I growl and say to myself "Yer gonna wish you'd voted 'no' when (God forbid) I get hurt or sick. And I have to go to the ER and the taxpayers end up paying for it because I gotta go to the ER. Because people like YOU make it so I can't get any insurance. Because I can't get on my wife's policy at work."
And then I growl and say to myself "You are drivin an old beat up rusty truck like mine and you have a sticker like that. You think the fatcats who lobby for those stupid laws give a @#$% about YOU?"
And then I start to cry. And my son son buys me a 99cent tea at McDonalds and offers to go beat the guy up. And I tell my son it wouldn't help anything.

You have a wonderful son.

It IS sad, isn't it? The "fatcats" know they can use stuff like 'gay issues' to get guys like your neighbor to vote against their own interests, and it's sad that you know it's happening and get to pay the price for it, too.

Here, have some flowers:

thank you for the flowers!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am glad to see you around more.
My son is pretty cool.

I don't know why that guy upset me so much. I wish I could tell these people that gays are not some phantom force that is threatening them. We are the people behind you in the checkout at Food Lion or the feed store. We are the people who gripe about there being no rain or about deer eating the maters.
I wish I could talk to people like that. I'm just no good at it. I either cry or get really really mad and want to break things. Neither of which is good if I'm trying to get a point across.

Default Knowing What's At Stake

You have a wonderful son and I commend you. The sad thing is that many people know little or nothing about many issues. They just vote for or against something because it's in line with what they believe. Ask them what it's about and they can't tell you. When they lose a lot of their rights and privileges they are so shocked but it gets back to my original point of not knowing what the issue is.

Maybe you should have a bumper sticker that says, "People who oppose marriage equality are as welcome as a drought and as likable as mater-eatin deer!"
