My sister and I are planning a fantasy road trip. Well, for now it is a fantasy, we hope to make it reality. I thought I should ask though, what are some place in the U.S. that you think every person should see??

Wow, Jen. There's a lot places. I would recommend New York City, San Diego, and Washington, DC for starters.

Niagara Falls. I often forget what that's like for someone who hasn't grown up a half hour away from it.

Monticello (Thomas Jefferson's house). I live about 30 minutes away from it and went there when my folks came to visit. It's awesome.
Devil's Tower in Wyoming.(Especially if you are a sci-fi fan) Civil War battlefields. Not just the big ones like Gettysburg but smaller ones like what is left of the battlefield at Franklin Tenn.( A huge bloodbath of a battle that isn't as well know because it didnt involve Grant or Lee) Galveston Island New Orleans A state fair( any of them). For some kettle corn, funnel cake, and a look at young farm kids showing their animals. Skyline Drive on the BlueRidge Parkway. (Along with the Appalachian Trail) |

Definitely Grand Canyon. Vegas would be fun and not too far from GC. So many places in Cali - we have the most diverse landscape in the country I think. Bodega Bay for birding, north coast for scenery. South coast for weather and gorgeous beaches. Tahoe is beautiful (I prefer summer there to winter). Yosemite is a must, and Sequoia Nat'l Park. Also Mono Lake, Mammoth and Devils Postpile is fun. Los Angeles - Hollywood you would enjoy, especially the observatory/planetarium at Griffith Park. San Diego is beautiful, visit The Palace (Cajun restaurant) in beautiful Santa Barbara. The Sacramento capitol is awesome (and very historical). I also enjoyed Birmingham, but didn't care much for Milwaukee - so if you skip that town you probably won't miss much.

A drive down the Pacific Coast Highway from San Fran to LA area is terrific.
An overnight stop at San Luis O'Bispo and a stay at the Madonna Inn was a highlight for me. |

It has been a LONG time since I have been here.
I definitely would recommend Cape Cod, specifically Provincetown; New Orleans, LA; Atlanta, GA; Charleston, SC; the Outer Banks of NC....... I love travelling.

These are all places I'd love to see someday.
![]() San Francisco is now in my backyard, but I haven't spent any time in the city in the last year or so.

There are so many places - Key West being one as the southern tip. Mount Rushmore is another. Yellowstone yet another and San Francisco another. I love Northern Michigan myself but it will not be for everyone.
