Smile Interesting

If your life at present had a soundtrack, what songs would represent the following areas?

job: "Take this job and shove it" (Johnny Paycheck) Not really, but hey, sometimes I feel like it.

faith: "Awesome God" by Rich Mullins

family: "Texas in my Rearview Mirror" by Mac Davis

body: "I'm Every Woman" (originally I think by Aretha Franklin but I like Whitney Houston's version)

mind: "When I see you smile" Gloria Estefan

heart:"Sweet Love" by Anita Baker. I sing this to my wife, my love, and the one I married. I love her so much, and I sing this to her all the time.

CHAKA KHAN!

Aretha had "You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman."

Do NOT mix up your divas in gay company, my dear.

If the person her song is directed to makes her feel like a NATURAL woman, then what was she before she met them? Is she transgendered??

Let's see if I have any brain cells left to play this game:

Job: On the Road Again (I travel a lot) and once in a while "Take this Job and Shove it" (I get tired of traveling a lot)
Faith: How Great Thou Art (never fails to move me to tears) and a song I wrote called Beautiful Jesus (Lyrics only at this point)
Family: Like a Pill - Pink (sometimes I just can't take them anymore!)
Body: Baby Got Back (by Sir Mix a Lot and Mack Daddy) when I realize how much farther I have to go towards my fitness goals, and then Bad Girl by Usher when I realize my partner loves my body just fine the way it is!
Mind: Unwell (Matchbox 20) - okay, sort of a joke but normally I have so many topics on the forefront of my mind - it's insane!
Heart: Still (Brian McKnight) and Safest Place to Hide (Backstreet Boys - don't laugh!)

Default Sorry!!!

Sorry to mix up my divas. I honestly thought it was Aretha, but if you say Chaka Khan, then Chaka it is. I still like Whitney Houston's version better because it was the first one I heard. OH well!!!!!!!!! Forgive me Chaka!!! I shan't do it again!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Valley

I live in the hills
You live in the valleys
And all that you know are those blackbirds
You rise every morning
Wondering what in the world will the world bring today
Will it bring you joy or will it take it away
And every step you take is guided by
The love of the light on the land and the blackbird's cry
You will walk in good company
The valley is dark
The burgeoning holding
The stillness obscured by their judging
You walk through the shadows
Uncertain and surely hurting
Deserted by the blackbirds and the staccato of the staff
And though you trust the light towards which you wend your way
Sometimes you feel all that you wanted has been taken away
You will walk in good company
I love the best of you
You love the best of me
Though it is not always easy
Lovely? lonely?
We will walk in good company
The shepherd upright and flowing
You see...

(day) job: What's Love Got To do with it? (Tina Turner)

faith: Ich bin de Welt abhanden gekommen (Mahler), I know that my Redeemer Liveth (Handel)

family: Bill (Kern), The Man That Got Away (Harold Arlen)

body: The Rite of Spring (Stravinsky), 9th Symphony (Beethoven)

heart: (It's) Never Too Late (Tony Bennett), Ecologue for Piano, Gerald Finzi

passion: My Ship (Lady in the Dark: Kurt Weill)

My Ship

My ship has sails that are made of silk
The decks are trimmed with gold
And of jam and spice
There's a paradise in the hold
My ship's aglow with a million pearls
And rubies fill each bin
The sun sits high in a sapphire sky
When my ship comes in
I can wait the years till it appears
One fine day one spring
But the pearls and such
They don't mean much
If there's missing just one thing
I do not care if that day arrives
That dream need never be
If the ship I sing
Doesn't also bring
My own true love to me

I love "My ship!"

Can't think of responses to the other categories.

Well except that these words from Ariadne auf Naxos described my process of sexual/romantic discovery pretty perfectly, only for me some of the "gods" were "goddesses" . . .

Sexuality: " Als ein Gott kam jeder gegangen. . . und gewandelte mich um und um."
In English, "Each lover appeared like a God(dess), and transformed me again and again." - Yep, uh huh! truer words were never sung!
