Default Hey Ya'll!

Hi From Raleigh North Carolina. Im Powell, a 35yo professional gay male. After a suggestion from my pastor as well as a friend in Divinity School, I am wondering if there are any other folks in the Triangle area, or in NC that would be interested in forming a Soulforce local chapter.

After a recent visit to my area from the beleved Rev. Phelps, as well as a recent defined stance by the local Southern Baptist Convention against homosexuals(http://www.journalnow.com/servlet/Sa...=1128768181234) and their congregations that support them- I feel stronger than ever that I must take a stand.

I grew up in the Southern Baptist church, and continued to go until I was in college, when my pastor basically condemned all homosexuals- stating they would never enter into heaven. The scab that left on my soul is healing now, however I cant stand to sit idley by anymore. The message they are sending our sisters and brothers is scarring and the damage I have personally seen it do to families upsets me.

So I am asking are there any others in the area that feel the same way I do?

By the way, I have found an amazing new church, St Johns, MCC in Raleigh NC http://stjohnsmcc.org so if you are ever in the area, please stop in and prepare to be blessed! Tee Rev. Belva Boone will be sure to touch your soul as much as she touched mine- and welcome you into the arms of our God.

Powell Marshall, in Raleigh NC

Hey Powel, welcome to the forums here! did you see my thread "Taking Action" over in the Main Forum? I sent an email to Rev. Sanderson, but I've heard nothing yet. I was actually thinking about that whole situation as i drove home this evening. It seems that the situation needs to be addressed on so many levels, it's difficult to know what to address first.

oh, and you're a "Professional Gay Male" ??? It's not like the rest of us are amateurs, are we?
