Soulforce is in need of LGBT people in every state of the USA who are willing to attempt to sign up for the military as openly GLBT. If you or someone you know is willing to do this please contact me at kate@equalityride.com and I will hook you up with your state/city organizer. After the attempt to sign up for the military as openly gay fails (as we all know it will ) we will be doing military recruitment center sit-ins across the country until they allow us in as openly GLBT! As a Canadian, I also hope that your civil disobedience will change the US military culture yet again. Soulforce is for nonviolent civil disobedience - the kind that has always been successful - even when the nonviolent protestors have been the victims of the very violence they refuse to reciprocate.

There are so many mosaics in the world - openly gay UK and Canadian soldiers fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq alongside US soldiers who are under duress to hide. There are even open gay soldiers in Latin American armed forces. Ditto to all the three European nations who have same gender marriage.

The US Defence Department does not commission, warrant or enlist any male or female who claim that they are openly homosexual, and that they engage in " homosexual behaviour".

If an individual has already been commissioned, warranted, or enlisted in the US Armed Forces, and they meet the DADT programme criteria, they are discharged and/or if "behaviour is UCMJ criminal in nature, they can serve a sentence in a military prison.

Is your programme to have otherwise qualified and fit individuals to enlist in the National Guard units of several states, and when denied due to open homosexual declaration, to then join or otherwise initiate another legal challenge to the DADT???????????????????????????????????????
