I came, I saw, I conquered...the translated words evoke memories of Latin II when you work on Caesar's Gallic wars. At least, in my preparatory school, it was the second of four year study of the language and tactics.

Tactics - and its replication throughout the world at the behest of the Vatican and its nunciatures worldwide; or by Right Wing politicians and governments - is evident by the way that their nihilistic strategies seem to migrate over borders with predictability and frequency.

You know, my brothers and sisters, I awakened early and came to the study while others are sleeping ( other 60 year olds know about frequency with urgency issues ) in order to share some thoughts that are often themes in many threads here.

It seems that worldwide LGBT citizens of many nations can coalesce around worldwide circuit parties, cruises, entertainment venues and even two rival international sporting competitions - in Chicago and in Montreal - yet essentially fail to make the reality of hundreds of millions of LGBT individuals and trillions of $USD worldwide impact by a global unified voice and strategy rather than the provincial one we seem to engage in.

In several threads previously, I mentioned that despite HUGE WINS in Canada and in Massachusetts, only a statistical predictable number of gays and lesbians have availed themselves of same-sex marriage, and this is important, despite the fact that many are in decades-long committed relationships and have "jumped the broom" during their relationship. Please do not misunderstand this - not everyone should marry to make a political statement - but if you live it, be it.

I admire, for example, Harvard-trained J. Barrios, a state senator who is seeking the DA office in Boston proper and who married his spouse with whom he shares the parenting of two children. I frankly have difficulty with the only member of the United States House of Representatives who can legally marry in his state - with a committed relationship of several years - unwilling to expend political capital and do what all his straight siblings have done when they found their life partner - who refuses to do so while he calculates a run for the United States Senate. Strange, he wants to eventually sit in John Fitzgerald Kennedy's Senate seat - the one that his father insisted that he marry Jacqueline Bouvier before someone thought that he was queer.

Again, the theme is to steal their playbook. All will readily admit that our opponents have been winning effectively throughout the world. They have ironically failed where our brothers and sisters have invested blood and sweat into felling their house of cards.

Our opponents define us. No politician is successful when their opponents define them first. The strategy is the same. We must be first defined as both immoral and unpatriotic. We must be isolated from our common allies in struggle. We must be defined as seeking special rights and not the civil rights that these same fascists and their fathers denied to racial or ethnic or religious minorities in the past. Our parents, friends and siblings who would have natural tendencies to love and support are told that there are consequences for such support - and more, to show their "compassion" - they will not insist upon revocation of the few licences issued in the past.

The successful strategies in all four countries were a combination of both the cultural religious and spiritual as well as the secular and political. This was true in the Netherlands, where the population is equally divided among the Calvinists and the Catholics...or in Belgium and Spain - both with nearly-total cultural if not practicising Catholics. Canada also has a majority Catholic population. To the "regal" in our community, it is interesting to note that ALL FOUR NATIONS WHO HAVE SAME SEX MARRIAGE ARE CONSTITUTIONAL OR PARLIAMENTARY MONARCHICAL DEMOCRACIES.....WITH TWO QUEEN REGNANTS AND TWO QUEEN CONSORTS. MAYBE, IT IS ONLY " NOBLESSE OBLIGE, N'EST-CE PAS?"

so: AFTER YOU B.....ITCH , YOU SUGGEST SOLUTIONS.....

1) Organise international leadership conferences and organise worldwide activities that occur simultaneously to speak truth to power....and to non-violently engage power at great acceptable risk that suggests that they have crossed the Rubicon of tolerance and that it is nothing short of a moral imperative with zealous passion that defines the actions.

2) Coalesce all LGBT voices of faith into one recognisable and discernable unit who literally take on the spiritual forces leashed against us. Gay-affirming clergy and laity from denominations and jurisdictions in turmoil coalesce around the simple catechetical messages that define the love of Christ for all .

3) Invigorate all the parental, sibling and friend groups with an international identity - PFLAG or GSA or GLESEN or similar groups - to become our arms and legs in venues where we cannot enter and militate for our rights. Our parents love our children - their grandchildren - whether they were born from their children's wombs or they were adopted or born by surrogacy interventions.

Throughout history, men have suggested, and women have produced change. It is why of course, patriarchalism always seeks to subjugate women. Gay men - despite macho allure or physical perfection - are seen as biological and heterosexist traitors. There is no doubt that the true victors in many nations, including MA in the USA, and in Canada - were both the women clergy and lawyer/politicians/jurists who spoke to the heterosexist and were the victim of their own stereotypic judgements.

In conclusion, brothers and sisters, we must think as the global fascists do. Today, their briefcases contain multiple valid passports. They travel quickly, frequently and comfortably. Their funds to defeat us travel at nanosecond speed by electronic transfer.

Meanwhile, they offer us three more Latin words from Ancient Rome....It is Panem et Circenses.....to some the NFL and beer.....to others you have the World Soccer trials. Fascists have learned to always keep alcohol cheap and plentiful and sporting events inexpensive to attend.

Our corporate press - especially cable - will hone in on the most acultural or culturally jarring images they can conjure up....or give us hours of fluff pieces on handicapping the Emmy nominations. You must read or view the few alternative voices to get serious discussion of issues that affect your own lives.

Woops - I just blew your cover, Bishop - since I shared your story with other FA's and one remembered all three of your names.....but I know the need for anonymity if you deem it necessary. Interesting that all three of you have the same family name.....oh the freedoms and rights and privileges in Canada.

This particular essay struck me as very important and although I am the 94th to read it, and the first to comment upon it, I thought that it should have another turn down the thread list.

I say that nothing succeeds like success, and unless and until we Americans are even capable of retaining marriage in one state - now under seige - then we should listen to someone I know was integral in the Canadian saga for total integration.

Yes, total integration because your licenses and certificates look and are legally the same as for opposite sex couples. Your rights and privileges are the same.

I am younger and single. I hope that on my layovers in Canada, that I find the person with whom I can love and marry. If that happens, then I am a first preference alien to enter Canada, on a fast track to citizenship. I travel the world often and enough to know that it takes decades and centuries for the American culture to correct injustices against minorities. I do not have that time to spare...I want a home with a Canadian and children as well-behaved and attractive as your little one.- a real family with all the legal rights of any of my neighbors.
