Tuesday, September 11th, 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m., Equality Advocates, 1211 Chestnut, Philadelphia: Equality Advocates PA have been supporting Soulforce in various ways with Seven Straights Nights so we want a Soulforce presence for their monthly volunteer night. They are a fabulous group of people and the work is easy. They will be sending out over one thousand letters to state legislators in support of statewide non-discrimination legislation. Food will be provided for volunteers. Contact Tommy Atz for info.
Saturday, September 15th, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Gay Bingo, Broad and Pine, Philadelphia: Gay BINGO is supporting Seven Straight Nights by providing
Soulforce with a table, handing out a flyer for Seven Straight Nights, and
possibly making an announcement during the evening about us. Volunteer or attend!
By volunteering for Gay BINGO you get to attend for free
(tickets are $20) AND tell a LARGE collection of straight allies about OUR event.
If you plan to attend you must let us know so we can let them know ahead of time. Contact Tommy Atz for info.
Saturday, September 29th, 9 p.m. to 12 a.m., Pure Nightclub, 13th and Locust, Philadelphia: fundraiser for Soulforce Philadelphia: 100% of cover is donated to Soulforce. Contact Tommy Atz for info.
Sunday, October 7th, 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.: OutFest, Center City (Gayborhood), Philadelphia: Soulforce will have a table, and we will need help tabling: we would also like to get the word out about Seven Straight Nights. Finally, we are also likely to do a direct action to symbolize the oppression of LGBT people. Contact Tommy Atz for info and to get involved.
Friday, October 12th, 7 p.m. - 2 a.m.: Seven Straight Nights for Equal Rights, Harrisburg, PA: On the night of October 12th, Soulforce Philadelphia will take part in an all night vigil, one of a national series cosponsored by Atticus Circle and Soulforce, Inc. Straight allies will have the opportunity to show support for GLBT family and friends, to thank Governor Rendell for his support of equal rights, and to inform legislators that straight people know justice for all is achieved only when ALL citizens have the same opportunities and protections. LGBT people are also very welcome to participate in this event. Join the vigil and shine a light on injustice and intolerance.
Page size black/white flyers, color flyers, palm cards, and postcards will be available in early September to leave out and post up advertising Seven Straight Nights and our fundraiser. Let us know if you would like any. Also Let us know if you can provide rides to Harrisburg or need one.
