Seven Straight Nights

Taking a (literal) stand for equality

In 2007 and 2008 Soulforce worked with Atticus Circle and organizers across the country to launch a campaign empowering straight people to take a stand and speak up for LGBTQ equality. We wanted to give our straight friends, family, and supporters the opportunity (and perhaps a little push!) to take a stand all by themselves.

A resounding success, the campaign was active in over 20 states spanning the course of seven days and nights.

In 2009, we took the energy, contacts, and experience of Seven Straight Nights and channeled it into a new campaign, Sundays of Solidarity which encourages groups of LGBTQ and allied people around the country to train themselves in nonviolent direct action and communication, and then attend worship services and seek conversation with leaders at a church of their choice – a church that is not welcoming and affirming of openly LGBTQ members and guests.
