ACT-UP

The AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power launched in March of 1987. Describing themselves as “a diverse, non-partisan group of individuals united in anger  and committed to direct action to end the AIDS crisis”, ACT-UP forever changed the face of HIV/AIDS activism with their provocative and unforgettable style of nonviolent civil disobedience.

In cooperation with several other contributing organizations, ACT-UP New York recently founded the Act Up Oral History, a collection of interviews with surviving members of the AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power, New York. http://www.actuporalhistory.org/

ACT-UP’s comprehensive Civil Disobedience Index may be accessed online or may be downloaded in its entirety in .PDF format.
