Visionary Action
Surviving the Storm: (3 hours)
When natural disasters hit, what do we know as a community to respond to both the disaster itself and the disastrous response of our federal systems and ensure that our communities aren’t sold to the highest bidder in the aftermath?
A Call to How to Act: An Action Framework for Today’s Organizers: (3 hours)
It is time for our actions and organizations to evolve from reactionary to vision based work. In every successful movement, the vision is more compelling that the challenges of the current reality and propels the people forward. It is time to have accountability in our mvmt, in how we relate to one another, respect our shared history and visions. It is time we had intergenerational solutions. It is time to evolve past the parachuting of outside organizers into communities to do frontline work. And it is time to apply the sustainability model (local, seasonal, organic, paced) to how we organize. Come share and discover principles for stepping up to meet the times!
Visionary Audacious Actions: (1 hour)
Montgomery, Nashville, Selma - we are walking in the action footsteps of visionary thinkers who let their actions show what they wanted in their policies and communities, rather than simply protesting what they didn’t want or hoping polite negotiations would do the job. Now, it’s time for our season of stealth recycling centers, overnight green gardens, and surprise green curricula in our classrooms - it’s time to aggressively advance the frontline of our desire for green jobs and green economies! Come scheme ideas for visionary, audacious and relevant actions with The Ruckus Society!
