Mobilizing the Church for Trans Women of Color
We publish this letter on Good Friday in support of various trans leaders of color, and organizations led by trans people of color, including the North Carolina Queer TROUBLMakers, a statewide collective of Queer and Trans People of Color who seek to create autonomous community for all LGBTQ People of Color.
Soulforce signs on to this statement, and we call on those of us who are people of faith to practice relentless nonviolent resistance by being fabulously non-compliant to Christian supremacist theologies and institutions that weaponize religion to moralize violence against trans women of color.
This letter is the result of relentless organizing against transphobia in North Carolina faith communities, and was spearheaded by a member of our Southeast House program. The letter is meant to be signed and shared with your local faith organizations and congregations.
